Why is the fixed jaw in front? I’m used to the fixed jaw being in the back.
This is different than what you may be used to. Chick, may be different than what you are used to. However, it’s important to remember, we are different for a reason. Innovation is at the core of what we do. We were the first to use a dual station clamping system, the first to use aluminium bases, and so on…
In the past, our products, including the original One Lok were designed with the CNC Machines in mind; specifically making a mill as efficient as possible. While this is extremely effective in batch work and production, we found in the “one-off” environment, actual machine in-cycle time is minimal; most processes (programming, setup, part change) involve machinist efforts, rather than the mill itself. So by focusing on the machinist, we have the ability to make the greatest impact on overall efficiency.
So why is the fixed jaw in the front?
It is closer the operator that way. It makes it easier to:
Load a heavy part without having to lean in machine
